I have acquired rock band and a ladder. Today I will traverse the insulation filled attic of my house to find places to run cable. In the meantime you can check out these links

Pretty Cool Day

Monday, May 26th, 2008

I got to play Rock Band with my brothers and dad today. It was really cool. Also, my Uncle Jim had sent an email to Jim Cramer (From the show Mad Money) and had it published on Mad Money. It was awesome to see that too. He asked a question about Devry, which my step mom just so happens to work for :-)

Joe casually reminded me that Walmart has Wii’s in stock today but he didn’t buy one for me. I told him I have 250 dollars (plus tax) with his name on it if he buys one.

Man, the weekend is over already eh? Bummer.

Shift to really fast drive

As good as it feels to be back at work, it sucks at the same time

Well that settles it

No young people live in Illinois.

I attended a Free Spirit Riders club meeting today at the local Honda dealer hoping to make some new friends and future riding buddies. What I got was a group of people old enough to be my parents.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with them; they’re a great bunch of guys. But this problem has reared it’s head before (@ work) and it’s starting to get me bummed out. I must have no luck finding people my age to hang out with. Or, more likely, people my age are just doing stupid crap like getting married, and forever sealing themselves off with responsibilities that bring about the untimely death of their spontaneous, fun, side of life.

Or perhaps no-one between the ages of 23 and 25 actually lives in Illinois anymore.

What’s up with this? I must have picked the wrong interests in life or something. Going to Northbeach is not fun anymore people.

Finally, game beaten

Oh my gosh, I finally finished Odin Sphere. The ending was incredible! No, wait, the whole game was incredible! wow.

1 down, many to go

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

My first goal for 2008 has been met; the last rent payment. Boy does it feel good to have that monkey off my back.

Well, I’m sooo close to finishing Odin Sphere. I have one more boss battle and then it’s over! I finished The Myth of the Rational Voter today too. It was a good book, but the language obviously was at a level several masters degree’s above me.

I’ve started Innovation Nation now. I expect I’ll have it done by the end of this week. After all, this is furlough week again : (

Totally got my hopes up

For the longest time I’ve wanted to eat a deep fried twinkie. Well, tonight was the night. I pulled out the fry daddy, opened a box, and had at it. Well, I wasn’t impressed.

Maybe I didn’t find a good batter recipe or something. Or maybe they just aren’t my kinda dessert. Either way, I really didn’t like them as much as I was thinking I would. I tried a deep fried ho-ho too. It was better than the twinkie, but still nothing spectacular.

*sigh* ahh well, at least I can say I’ve tried them now.

Kudos to Tenable

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Tenable surprised me today when I was working with the .nessus files. I was hoping to add my own custom tag to the xml file, import it into the Nessus Client, then make a change, and re-save the XML file and still have my custom tag in there. Apparently you can do that! Thanks Tenable!

Firebug has been more cool recently too. I mistakenly put an alert() into a big loop recently and proceeded to hang firefox. I knew there was a better way since I had read about it in the past, and I knew it involved Firebug, so I went to look. Firebug has a real cool ‘console’ object that you can use to log stuff instead of using alert. Also, they have a special js file you can use to keep the browser from erroring if Firebug is not installed. Cool!

Hang in there Xbox

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

I just beat Blue Dragon and it was an awesome game. The last couple of bosses were total punching bags, and Xbox nearly had a heart attack trying to play some of those cutscenes. The guy who did the Final Fantasy series is also the guy who did this, and it really shows. It was a stellar game.
